USB Conference Speakerphone: USB bandwidth contention | Auckland
Pattern to record: Call audio drops when the speakerphone shares a stressed or faulty USB path with other devices.
Trace video, input and output separately
Test the speakerphone’s playback, microphone and mute controls separately. This guide concerns USB mode; a model that also offers Bluetooth must be diagnosed in the mode actually used during the call. One possible explanation is that multiple devices exceed the host path's practical data capacity.
Compare the failing connection
- Test input and output separately, compare another host and inspect USB power stability.
- Test the device alone on a direct capable port and review USB topology.
Before changing the setup
Avoid maximum volume tests when audio is distorted or the unit is hot. Adding another hub can worsen contention.
Restore the intended function
If the checks support this cause, move high-bandwidth devices to independent supported controllers. Verification should cover microphone, speaker, mute controls, call software, reconnect and sleep.
