All-in-One Computer Ethernet Interface: Failed Ethernet magnetics | Auckland
Pattern to record: The controller is detected but no link forms with known network equipment.
Separate the adapter from the network
Identify whether Ethernet is built into the all-in-one or supplied through an external adapter. Compare the rear connector with a known cable and switch port before opening the display assembly. One possible explanation is that the isolation transformer path is open or degraded.
Link and configuration checks
- Compare link before Windows loads, inspect the rear port and test another switch connection.
- Compare differential continuity and controller activity using board references.
Before internal work
All-in-one internal mains sections require trained handling. Surge damage may also affect the controller and protection parts.
Verify the network path
If the checks support this cause, replace the failed magnetics or integrated jack assembly. Verification should cover link speed, sustained traffic, camera or video workload, sleep and restart.
For an assessment of your all-in-one computer, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
