Laptop LCD Panel: Local display power fault | Auckland
Laptop LCD Panel: local display power fault. The display does not receive one of the voltages required for normal operation.
The distinguishing clue
The picture is absent, dim or appears only briefly at startup.
Checks before an assessment
Save a screenshot and view it on another screen, if the laptop is otherwise safe to use. Note whether the mark stays in exactly the same physical position.
Stop point: Do not press a damaged panel or continue moving a lid that is twisting the display.
Workshop confirmation and repair
Device-level check: Compare the internal image with a known external monitor and inspect the panel under several brightness levels.
Targeted check: Check the relevant power enable and supply path with the panel specification understood. If confirmed: Repair the board supply or replace the panel according to the isolated fault.
Repair boundary: Replace the panel only after its connector, resolution, mounting and refresh specification are confirmed.
Related cause to rule out

Checks after the work
After repair or replacement, check brightness, colour, sleep, webcam and repeated lid movement.
