Desktop Label Printer Media Path: Incorrect media configuration | Auckland

by AEPC / AKL East PC 16 Oct 2026

Pattern to record: Feeding begins but stops or positions the page incorrectly.

Locate the feed stage

Labels must match the printer’s gap, black-mark or continuous-media sensing mode. Record stock width, liner and roll orientation before calibration; label adhesive can contaminate the platen and sensor path. One possible explanation is that the printer's size, type or calibration does not match the loaded material.

Feed-path checks

  1. Confirm label type and calibration, then inspect guides, platen and sensors.
  2. Compare driver, tray, sensor and calibration settings with actual media.

Before inspecting the mechanism

Adhesive residue should be removed with the printer powered off. Changing hardware cannot fix a software media mismatch.

Correct the confirmed cause

If the checks support this cause, select the correct configuration and recalibrate where supported. Verification should cover single labels, batch labels, gap detection, calibration and clean exit.

For an assessment of your label printer, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
