Inkjet Printer Paper Feed System: Blocked paper sensor | Auckland
Pattern to record: A jam message remains even when the visible path is empty.
Locate the feed stage
Compare plain paper with the specific photo or speciality media supported by the inkjet. Note whether skew begins at pickup or only under the carriage, and keep fingers clear of the moving printhead. One possible explanation is that dust, scraps or adhesive prevent a flag from returning to its normal position.
Feed-path checks
- Inspect pickup surfaces, guides and encoder-related movement using clean supported media.
- Trace the jam location and operate the sensor gently with power removed.
Before inspecting the mechanism
Keep fingers clear of powered carriage and feed mechanisms. Forcing a thin plastic flag can break it.
Correct the confirmed cause
If the checks support this cause, remove contamination or replace the damaged sensor or flag. Verification should cover plain paper, photo media if supported, alignment, multi-page feed and exit.
